Joe Calamusa is a founding partner of Sales & Leadership Development Group (SLDG). SLDG is a training and consulting company that provides customized speaking, training, coaching, and consulting to professionals in any stage of their career. Joe is the content creator, teacher, and lead facilitator for all sessions and projects. Joe's experience in corporate training and coaching span a range of industries, including Healthcare, Manufacturing, Retail, Media, Municipal, Industrial Technology, and Consumer Packaged Goods. Joe specializes in leadership, sales, and HR expertise.
Joe is the Managing Director of The University of Alabama Sales Program and a Clinical Professor of Marketing in the Culverhouse College of Business. Before joining UA faculty, Joe spent 10 years as the Corporate National Sales Manager for Peco Foods, Inc., a privately held and fully integrated poultry processor. While at Peco he started a private label grocery division that blossomed into over $150 million in annual sales to retail giants including Wal-Mart, The Kroger Co., Supervalu Inc., Safeway, Publix, Dollar General, and others. Joe oversaw a national sales and broker network, and was responsible for the division’s strategy, supply chain, product development, and profitability. Prior to Peco Foods, Joe served as a Brand Manager for the Bryan Foods division of Sara Lee Corp. In this role he managed all product development, marketing, and sales support for the Hams and Canned Meats categories. Joe is a 1996 (B.S.) and 1998 (M.B.A.) graduate of The University of Alabama.
